2026 MCAA Student Chapter Competition
January 28, 2026
The University of Manitoba Mechanical Engineering Student Chapter placed 8th out of 29 teams in the 2025-2026 MCAA Student Chapter Competition, earning a top-ten finish among post-secondary institutions across North America.
The annual competition challenges students to put classroom theory into practice by developing a comprehensive bid for a real-world mechanical construction project. Teams must incorporate Building Information Modeling (BIM), green building requirements, mechanical service considerations, and emerging technologies.
"MCA Canada would like to congratulate MCA Manitoba and the University of Manitoba on their 8th place finish in the MCA America Student Chapter Competition," said Tania Johnston, Chief Executive Officer of MCA Canada. "This is a remarkable achievement-especially in only your second year of participation. Placing in the top quarter of all submissions is no small feat, and you are to be commended for this outstanding success. MCA Canada proudly celebrates this significant accomplishment."
"This competition provided our team with practical experiences that we might not be able to get through our classes and other student teams," said Erin Delichte, Student Chapter President. "Additionally, being able to work with and learn from our industry reps made our experience even more meaningful."
MCAM also recognizes the critical role industry mentorship plays in student success. "We are grateful to ServcoCanada and Penn-Co for their mentorship and ongoing support of the University of Manitoba student chapter," said Ramona Coey, Executive Director of MCAM. "Their willingness to share time, expertise, and real-world insight is invaluable in helping students understand the realities of the mechanical industry and prepare for successful careers."
MCAM congratulates the University of Manitoba team and thanks all industry partners.
